Let the Sun Shine

Northwestern Energy Solar Energy Project in Bozeman, Montana.

Soaking up the sun! Most of us have been participating in this popular catchphrase for the last couple of months while the days are longer and the rays are plentiful. And while we humans enjoy the warmth and dose of Vitamin D that the sun provides, our homes and commercial buildings can also reap the benefits from that large star in the sky in the form of solar energy.

The discovery that the sun's power could be harnessed via solar cells began as far back as 1876, but it wasn't until the 1950s that the practice made real forward progress. The 1960s saw NASA utilizing this cutting edge technology as well with solar powered satellites. While at first quite cost prohibitive, the following decades have vastly improved the ability to make this technology feasible and affordable. It is certainly reasonable to assume that the use of solar energy will continue to evolve and become more prevalent.

Sunday, October 1st, 2017 - 2:30pm

As an American Orchestra entering its 50th year, we begin our season of celebrations with a fitting tribute to the music of our native land.

Next, the much-anticipated return of one of our most requested guest artists: Van Cliburn Gold Medalist Jon Nakamatsu, performing Gershwin's flashy Piano Concerto in F. A deeply introspective moment follows with Samuel Barber's Essay No. 1, followed by the Symphonic Dances from one of our greatest American masterpieces, West Side Story.

316 E. Ennis Street, Ennis
$295,000 | MLS 301319

This charming vintage home has been remodeled in the past but needs some TLC. It is comfortable and livable as it is, but in need of upgrading. Would make an excellent vacation cottage or rental. Property consists of 3 lots (144' x 50' each) so the additional lots could be developed. This property borders a large pasture in the flood plain that cannot be built on which offers wonderful privacy and views of the mountains. The Madison River is a short distance away and could probably be seen from a second story, if another structure were built on the property. The house is in a lovely setting with large trees and open space. Lots of potential.
