Happy Holidays!

ERA Landmark's 2018 Season of Giving

The holiday season is upon us and we would like to take the opportunity to wish you and your family a very Happy Holiday! Because of our loyal clients, the local community is filled with more happiness during our 31st annual ERA Landmark "Season of Giving".

Since 1987, ERA Landmark and our associates have contributed a portion of each commission to a fund dedicated to assisting children in our community. Every November and December, during the "Season of Giving," we allocate these funds, plus additional gifts from our associates, to local organizations to help make the holidays a little brighter for local families in need. This year, we are happy to support Big Sky Food Bank, Boys & Girls Club, Family Promise, Gallatin Valley Food Bank, Haven, Madison County Food Bank, and Thrive.

Thank you for making our "Season of Giving" possible. The gifts we are donating are on display in the windows at our downtown Bozeman office at 8 East Main Street. We invite you to stop in a take a look.

In 2010, our Livingston office began a "stocking stuffer" program.  They partner with several other affiliate businesses to raise money to fill stockings for local area children. Families are referred to them by Livingston organizations and each year 30-60 individual children enjoy a little brighter holiday season from these efforts.

We live here, we love it here, and we feel very fortunate to be able to support the organizations that make our community unique and compassionate. Cheers to a successful new year!

Sincerely,
Robyn Erlenbush

Smart Home Technology

November Market Watch
ERA Landmark

Smart Home Technology

Smart phones. Smart televisions. And now smart houses? Your home is most likely your greatest investment. When you are there, you want it to be comfortable and efficient. When you are not there, you want it to be safe and protected. As with many areas in modern-day life, technology has made meaningful strides in all of those areas.

The concept of home theaters is certainly not new. Hard wiring speakers and surround sound into home has been around for a considerable amount of time. However, well equipped media rooms are now more of an art by taking into consideration the aesthetics of how to make an 82" LED television blend into a well decorated family space. Professionals can set up a home to bring music, tv and internet to any and all rooms, even with remote access. Multi-zone and whole home audio systems which can also be controlled by a remote are becoming more common all the time.

In terms of energy management, technology can assist with lighting, heat, air conditioning controls and more. For example, pre-selected schedules can be programmed for your lights to turn off and on, providing both peace of mind and energy cost savings. Thermostats now can have sensors in different rooms throughout a house versus heating the whole home based on one location. They can adapt to your specific heat requirements and even shut off when you leave the home. Most models can assist with energy saving tips and can use remote access.

MBC's 35th Anniversary Nutcracker Performace

Friday, November 30, at 7pm
Saturday, December 1, at 2pm & 7pm

at the Willson Auditorium

The Nutcracker Ballet is based on the book entitled "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King" written by E.T.A. Hoffman. The legendary choreographer Marius Petipa commissioned Tchaikovsky to write the music for the Nutcracker Ballet in 1891. The following year, the very first performance of the Nutcracker appeared at the Mariinsky Theatre in Russia, the home of the Kirov Ballet. In the United States, the first full-length Nutcracker was choreographed by W. Christensen and performed by the San Francisco Ballet in 1944. Today the Nutcracker is an annual holiday tradition, performed by ballet companies large and small all over the world. MBC's production of The Nutcracker, set to Tchaikovsky's beloved score, is one of the largest artistic collaborations in the region featuring the work of accomplished dancers, local and national level choreographers, guest artists, live musicians, seasoned stage technicians, lighting and costume designers and a host of dedicated volunteers. Audiences will delight in new and exciting choreography and theatrical elements.

Do It Yourself (DIY)

October Market Watch
ERA Landmark

Do It Yourself (DIY)

The concept of Do It Yourself (DIY), while certainly not new, has become increasingly prevalent in the real estate industry. The early pioneers of DIY projects that were geared toward homeowners included names such as Bob Vila of This Old House and Martha Stewart.  These personalities and many more paved the way for the modern-day DIY home improvement trend. HGTV programming has been wildly successful and even had a spin-off network, aptly named DIY Network, which covers home projects along with much more.

The quality of the construction, the finishes, the location of the property, the size of the home and lot…all of these are certainly the features that real estate agents and home buyers painstakingly review during the search process. However, sometimes it is the finishing touches that make a house go from a "maybe" to a "yes" in the eyes of a buyer. Homeowners and their REALTORS® are savvy and know that there is power in the smallest details. Design and decorating styles are easier than ever to follow and identify with due to the growth of internet sites such as Pinterest and an abundance of tv shows that feature both small and large scale projects. These all promote tackling Do It Yourself (DIY) projects with increased confidence.

The most basic DIY project is quite simple…thoroughly clean up the house and property. Windows, baseboards, and other deep cleaning projects that are easy to avoid when living in a home should be tackled. The exterior of the property is equally important. Decomposed leaves and debris stacking up along the side of the garage should be dealt with. First impressions are major when a home is for sale. It is a good idea to not let buyers have an opportunity to focus on dingy floors or an un-swept back patio when they should be concentrating on a home's assets.
