Green Homes

Real estate markets feature available properties for sale that come in all shapes and sizes, new and old, basic to extravagant, and wasteful to green. There was a time not so long ago that taking sustainability into consideration when building or remodeling a home was not a concern. Those days seem to be behind us. The industry has taken more notice with each passing year, even though the green movement has formally been making steady strides for the last three decades.

According to the US Green Building Council, "Simply put, a green home uses less energy, water and natural resources compared to a standard home. It is more efficient, and so creates less waste. In addition, a green home can be a much healthier habitat for the people living inside." Those statements certainly prove that there are many compelling reasons to go green, including sustainability of the planet as a whole. However, it is often the bottom line that dictates whether a homeowner can truly make the enhancements that they would like to, even when they can see the tangible cost savings in the distance. Fortunately, green can also be affordable.

BOZEMAN SYMPHONY WILL FEATURE ITS SECOND CONDUCTOR OF THE SEASON

For this performance we welcome a very special guest, cellist Tristan Hernandez, performing the first movement of Haydn's Cello Concerto in C major. Tristan is the senior division runner up from the 2019 Montana Association of Symphony Orchestras' Young Artist Competition. He has performed as a member of the orchestra in previous seasons, and we are thrilled to showcase him as a soloist. Haydn is paired with the famous and popular The Planets by Gustav Holst, presenting one man's astrological approach to our universe.

Green Building

"Green Government" is the title of an article by Brad Broberg in On Common Ground, a magazine published twice each year by the National Association of REALTORS®. The Spring 2019 edition provided an array of topics that are easily relatable to our local area, including green building. Green building is included in terminology throughout the real estate industry when identifying positive aspects of a building that affect the natural environment. The main considerations include energy and water usage, type of materials used and the effect on the build site. The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) green building rating system was developed to more easily quantify the level of best practices used in several categories.

NIGHTS IN THE GARDENS OF SPAIN

Saturday, September 28th, 2019 - 7:30pm
Sunday, September 29th, 2019 - 2:30pm
Willson Auditorium

We begin our new season with the Spanish flavors and exotic sounds of composer Manuel de Falla. You'll be captivated by his country's enticing music, which he then blended with the sounds of French impressionism. It was his music that started the furor over Spanish sounds. His piano concerto, Nights in the Gardens of Spain, presents this Spanish movement in all its glory. Canadian pianist, Marika Bournaki, child prodigy, graduate of The Juilliard School and feature of the award-winning documentary "I am Not a Rock Star" joins the orchestra in her return to Bozeman.
